Gas line workers in the city of Poughkeepsie narrowly escaped a disastrous crash in late July. According to officials, a driver crashed into a man-made ditch on the corner of Clover and Main Street.
Only moments before the incident Central Hudson crews were in the ditch, working on a gas line. The driver of the vehicle somehow missed signs, and the flagger, and drove directly into the ditch.
City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief, Mark Johnson suspects the driver was distracted at the time of the crash. Luckily, workers and pedestrians escaped the ordeal without injuries.
