Lawmakers have approved a countywide indoor e-cigarette smoking ban for Westchester County. E- cigarettes, or Electronic Cigarettes, are battery powered vaporizers, meant to mimic the feeling of smoking a traditional cigarette. There is limited evidence to date that definitively states e-cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes.
Westchester County Legislator Catherine Borgia, who proposed the bill, says e-cigarette manufacturers marketing techniques target young people; much like traditional cigarette advertising has done in the past.
Weather or not the indoor ban will extend state wide has yet to be determined.
