Specialized Bicycle Components have recalled its Aerobars handlebars as the bolt used to affix these handlebars to the bicycle can loosen, posing a fall hazard to the rider.
Effecting more than 8,300 units, the recall involves carbon and alloy Aerobars sold individually and with model years from 2012 to 2015 Specialized Shiv bicycles and model year 2013 Specialized Transition Apex bicycles. The carbon version was Sold in black and white with a Specialized logo on the top side of the handlebar, the alloy in black with no markings.
No injuries have so far been reported, but four reports of the Aerobars bolt loosening have been received. Sold at retailers Nationwide and online, consumers should immediately stop using the recalled aerobars and contact the company to receive replacements.
