In New York State there is a list, known as the “Do Not Refer” list that many state residents are unaware of. Facilities end up on the list when the facility or program receives a “written notice of an enforcement action based on a violation of an applicable law or regulation that creates an endangerment of resident health or safety, a pending enforcement action against a facility’s operating certificate or a determination that the facility is required to be certified as an adult home, enriched housing program or residence for adults.”- The Department of Health
The list contains the names of nursing homes and assisted living cities throughout the state, including facilities in Sullivan, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange County.
