1. Poisoning, the number one cause of unintentional injury-related deaths. This includes prescription drug overdoses.
2. Car Crashes, the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths. Causes include but are not limited to impaired driving, distracted driving, and failure to obey traffic laws.
3. Fall down accidents are the third leading cause of injury-related deaths and is the number one cause of death for those over 71.
The list also includes choking and suffocation, drowning, fires, and environmental incidents.
