You can expect the most up-to-date technology so that you know the status of your case 24/7. Our firm was founded in 1959 in Newburgh, NY by Howard S. Finkelstein. We now have 19 offices in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Our staff includes 31 attorneys and 126 support staff. But we’re more than that, we’re family. We’re a group of people committed to helping victims and dedicated to making our communities better, happier, safer places. We want to help you.

How do we help?

Our legal teams include fierce trial attorneys, motions attorneys, paralegals, and case managers. Many of these professionals have been with our firm for decades. We also have an in-house investigation division that employs 7 Investigators, 6 of whom are professionally trained law enforcement officers having graduated from the Police Academy. This team provides tremendous strength in evaluating potential automobile crash claims. Our investigators offer expert analysis and advice while assisting in the preparations for trial. Our in-house trial preparation team produces state-of-the-art videos, from crash/event reconstructions to autobiographies which can be used to demonstrate dramatic changes in a victim’s life circumstances. This knowledge, experience, resources, and technology combined with our size enables us to negotiate with insurance companies and go against defense counsel in our own unique way. That’s why we’ve recovered over $3.1 billion since our doors opened.

What is the cost?

The answer is simple, nothing. Nothing until we secure compensation on your behalf. This is called a “contingency” arrangement, and all personal injury cases are contingency based. Once funds are awarded, any expenses that are incurred to advance your case, called ‘disbursements’, are deducted, and our fee is one third of the award amount, which is also deducted. Examples of disbursements are costs to pay expert witnesses, trial material production, surgery, or crash reconstructions, etc. This process is slightly different in NY and NJ, but your case manager will explain everything in detail when you sign on with us. See our client guide for more information.

Compassion. Commitment. Community.

We’re a big law firm, and that’s a strength. Our size means that we have clout when it comes to negotiating with insurance companies. It also means that we’re involved in many communities. We encourage our employees to support their community through volunteering. Our firm-wide volunteer program enables individuals to volunteer at a non-profit in their community for up to four hours a month, during work time, while being paid.
