AdvancePierre Foods of Oklahoma is recalling approximately 8,730 pounds of frozen chicken breast products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The products were made with milk and soy and were undeclared on the label.
The products subject to recall:
10-pound bulk cases of “Our Down Home Style Chicken Breast Fritters for Chicken Frying” with Lot Code 5440730403 or 5440800403, produced March 14 and 21, 2014. Only these lot codes and dates are affected.
The products were distributed to food service establishments in Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
The problem was initially discovered when the company conducted an internal label review. The company inadvertently used labels with an incorrect ingredient statement. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) are responsible for verifying that establishments are actively labeling the eight most common food allergen.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
