Route 17 was closed for five hours late Sunday evening following a multi-vehicle collision. According to officials, a man and woman were standing on the driver’s side of their minivan, which was pulled over on Route 17, near exit 124 in the town of Goshen. An oncoming vehicle struck the pair, sending both some 100 feet.
The vehicle switched lanes and attempted to back up off the road when it hit a Mobile Life Ambulance in the center lane. The ambulance was transporting a patient at the time. The couple who were struck by the vehicle were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where they are listed in critical condition.
