Two teenagers from Stissing Mountain High School were killed and two others were injured in a one-car crash on Shultz Hill Road. The crash happened shortly before 4pm on Thursday on Shultz Road between Route 199 and Johnny Cake Hollow Road. Zachary Pruner, 16 and Gian Paolo Stagnaro, 17 were pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. Dustin Hale, 16 was transported to Albany Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and Niall Johnson, 16 was taken to St. Francis Hospital in the Town of Poughkeepsie with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation has indicated that Hale was driving a 2000 Subaru Impreza northbound on Shultz Hill Road when he lost control and the vehicle veered off the roadway, striking multiple trees and rolling over. Pruner was ejected from the vehicle. The others remained inside, according to reports. Speeding and reckless driving are contributing factors in the investigation. Autopsies to determine the cause of death are scheduled for Saturday. Grief counselors will be available to district students today at the high school. This is a tragic accident.
